Cantigas celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with this family concert of songs and stories from Latin America in collaboration with Puerto Rican storyteller Marian Licha.  Good for children and adults alike, with lots of audience participation.  FREE and open to the public.

Benefit Concert and Reception on June 28

The Hispanic Leaders Association; Cantigas, Washington's Premier Latino Chorus; and Embassy of Spain are giving a Benefit Concert and Reception to support Cantigas's outreach programs.

Cantigas mission is to increase awareness and appreciation of the many rich styles of Latin American, Spanish and Caribbean choral music, and unite communities through the joyful and transformative power of music. Cantigas provides artistic excellence in creative programming; educational workshops; and bilingual, cross-cultural and collaborative performances to national and international audiences. The chorus performs in Spanish, Portuguese, and a variety of languages and dialects of the Americas such as Nahuatl, Quechua and Creole, with bilingual concert program notes and texts.

We hope you all can attend, and please invite other friends, co-workers and family members There will be a reception, raffles and lots of other things. Your attendance is greatly appreciated. Tickets will only be available prior to the event.

DANZAS Y CANTOS DE ESPAÑA E HISPANOAMÉRICA

As part of Cantigas' tour to Puerto Rico on April 18, we are pleased to announce the Danzas y Cantos de España e Hispanoamérica concert. Cantigas will present along with Conjunto Criollo. Repertoire will include the masterful Romancero Gitano by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, for classical guitar, choir, and voice soloists, and Andanza del Ánima by Puertorican composer Enrique Bayoan Ríos. Cantigas will be accompanied by the Puerto Rican guitarist Yovianna García.

This is a free concert.

Location:  Sala Sinfónica Pablo Casals, Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
