DANZAS Y CANTOS DE ESPAÑA E HISPANOAMÉRICA

As part of Cantigas' tour to Puerto Rico on April 18, we are pleased to announce the Danzas y Cantos de España e Hispanoamérica concert. Cantigas will present along with Conjunto Criollo. Repertoire will include the masterful Romancero Gitano by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, for classical guitar, choir, and voice soloists, and Andanza del Ánima by Puertorican composer Enrique Bayoan Ríos. Cantigas will be accompanied by the Puerto Rican guitarist Yovianna García.

This is a free concert.

Location:  Sala Sinfónica Pablo Casals, Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Join us to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with this FREE interactive concert featuring traditional music performed by Cantigas, accompanied by JB Sotomayor and Friends, a Puerto Rican percussion ensemble.  Come early at 11am for a fun workshop by JB Sotomayor and Friends, and learn how to dance the Puerto Rican bomba and plena.

Gypsy Romance: Songs, Poetry & Castanets of Spain

A unique concert capturing the enduring passion of Spain through song, poetry, and its signature percussion instrument—the castanets. Repertoire will include the masterful Romancero Gitano by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, for classical guitar, choir, and voice soloists.

CANTO Y POESIA: From Dusk to Dawn

With visual interpretations designed by Jamie Lee Godfrey. "Between terror and tenderness, at an early hour, man works, painting a cure for tomorrow."  This verse by Cuban composer Silvio Rodriguez, dedicated to Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamin, inspires our unique concert of a capella songs and poetry set to music. Come celebrate the power of hope and inspiration!  Cantos y poesias que evocan el poder de la esperanza y la inspiracion.

Tickets will be available online until Friday, March 30 at 5:00 pm, but you will have an opportunity to buy tickets at the door on the day of the concert.
